Fair Weather Friend

I ask you … where were you In the darkness that was my night?
When I screamed for help and no one heard my plight?
When I was too weak even to fight … where were you then
on those lonely, lonely nights?
I ask you … where were you when daylight broke and all the world awoke with hope?
I watched the sun rise … and could not rise with the sun
for my eyes were closed with salted tears and my heart was heavy with my fears.
Where were you then …  all those lonely, lonely years?
I ask you once again … where were you my friend when my life changed
and I did not
When my world was gone … while I still lived in it,
When my body was wracked with pain … and I thought I would go insane.
Where were you then … my fair weather friend?
What gives you the right … to judge the hell I’ve been through,
for I never once … got any help from you.
Where were you when I needed you … where were you then?
